Post-Copenhagen Research on Different Roles and Influences of Government, Media and NGOs
— A conference invitation

Dear  Madame/Sir

The UN Climate Conference held in Copenhagen in December 2009 was an important meeting to address the common problems facing humanity. Although the meeting was unable to produce a legally binding agreement, it inspired new ways for governments, media and NGOs to approach issues common to humanity in the future. In this context, our center (Research Center of Journalism and Social Development of Renmin University) will host the “Post-Copenhagen Research on Different Roles and Influences of Government, Media and NGOs Conference”. We will invite government officials, experts and journalists to discuss China’s climate change communications strategy. We hope this project can provide suggestions for enhancing communication and a practical toolbox for the country’s government, media and NGOs. We also hope it will help the outside world better understand China. It should help the country become more proactive and better equipped for COP16 communications.

Because of your accomplishments in the arenas of climate issues or media, we invite you to attend the event and join in debates. It is an opportunity for you to freely express your views on the roles and communications strategies of the government, NGOs and news media in dealing with international climate change negotiations.

The conference will be held at Renmin University of China on May 16, 2010.

We warmly welcome your attendance and look forward to your participation!
